Heat of the Battlefield

In the heat of the battlefield I blamed it all on you
Truth is we were both wrong and I knew it all along.
Let’s lay our weapons down and send up our white flags
Let’s call it quits and lick our wounds.

And let’s try to not hurt each other anymore
Let’s try to not let our conflicts lead to war
Let’s try to resolve our differences with words
And let our words be kind.

I forget what we’re fighting for as anger takes its hold
Didn’t mean to hurt you, you’re just a casualty of war.
And when this is over and silence fills the air
I’ll regret this violence ’cause I know it makes no sense.

And let’s try to not hurt each other anymore
Let’s try to not let our conflicts lead to war
Let’s try to resolve our differences with words
And let our words be kind.

Together

He walked up silently behind me

He placed his arms around my waist and held me

He kissed the side of my neck, the back, the side, the back

He rested his chin on my shoulder

We stood there and looked out across the sea

Just looking

Just standing

Just being

Together

Crown of Creation

She waits for light, she waits for dawn
She waits for something that will keep her warm.
She’s on her own, she’s all alone
She’s looking for someone to fill this hole.
Someone who will love honestly, someone who will fight courageously
Someone she can trust her heart to, someone to know her through and through

‘Cause she’s the crown of creation
She’s the life-giver
She’s your ezer kenegdo
Will you rescue her?

She longs for love, she longs for touch
She longs for you and you alone so much.
Her will is strong, her body pure
She’s calling you to pursue her.
Will you take up your sword and shield and enter into the battlefield?
To rescue her, to romance her, to let her know she’s worth fighting for.

‘Cause she’s the crown of creation
She’s the life-giver
She’s your ezer kenegdo
Will you rescue her?

She waits for you, you her man
To be all she knows you can.
To call her forth, to your side
To be your woman.

‘Cause she’s the crown of creation
And she’s captivating
She’s your ezer kenegdo
Will you rescue her?
Will you come for her?

Will you fight for her?
Will you risk it all to rescue her?
Will you risk it all?

‘Cause she’s the crown of creation
She’s the life-giver
She’s your ezer kenegdo
Will you rescue her?

Note: Ezer Kenego is a hebrew term which (to put it simply) means an equal and suitable partner / helper.  The term is used in the bible when God created women (the climax of creation) to be Adam’s ezer kenedgo.

Unkind

No matter what I say

No matter what I do

I am always the same to you.

You have set me in concrete in your mind

And I am stuck there

Unchangeable;

Unkind.
